Alumni Set-Up

During reunion lunch in 2006, SMK Convent BM (Teachers, PIBG and Board of Governors) managed to gather ex students dated from the 50s right up to the most recent years. The idea to form an official alumni body emerged and some former students volunteered to be the backbone to realize this noble proposal.

Some of us were very enthusiastic and confident while some others were worried of not being able to give full commitment. But, talking it through, and since we have always been in love and loyal to our alma mater, it was hard to look back. This can be a way to contribute back to the place that have somehow shaped the persons we are today.

The place where we learned to love people known as friends, to share joy and sorrows. Learn to love people regardless of race, religion and status. Learn to never give up, learn to be confident and learn to be independent. Learn to respect and... the list goes on.

The establishment

The “PERSATUAN ALUMNI SEKOLAH CONVENT BUKIT MERTAJAM” has been officially established and registered in June 2007.

The alumni is still very young. We are looking for more ex-students to register as alumni. We, at the committee level, will be happy to get more response and suggestions as well.

The alumni is now focusing in recruiting members and gathering them on activities held by the alumni. Members must be former students of Convent Bukit Mertajam, as well as former teachers and staff who have served the school, both or either one from the secondary and primary school. 

Over the years, we have a wide range of ex-students attending the reunion gatherings. It is always interesting and of course, girls will always be girls, we always want to have fun and difference in generations was not an issue at all. We believe everyone has great times whenever gatherings or social functions are being held. 

The Alumni Objectives

• To gather students, ex students, staff and ex-staff of the school through activities like talks, reunions, workshop etc. 
• To strengthen the networks and relationship among members as a means towards achieving academic excellence and association . 
• To involve members with the society in social and charity activities. 
• To cooperate and work along other societies or organisations that has the same mission in which can be beneficial to this alumni and its members. 
• To organise activities to generate the Alumni CBM’s fund.

Form of Activities 

• We are currently sustaining a scholarship program for the students of SMK Convent Bukit Mertajam. This is a way to give back and contributing to the society, focusing on our alma mater, thus choosing some of the students that needs financial aid and mini scholarship, every year.
